I decided to remember my Europe trip by also taking photos of my Chucks. I wore brand new red chucks and wanted to see them transform through the hours and hours of walking, sleeping, and eating. I wore my black Jack Purcells too. Unfortunately, you can't really tell how dirty they got.

Foto Nuova Point & Shoot Workshop

With the invention of the point and shoot camera- most of us don't even THINK about what we're doing when we take a picture. They're made to do everything for you.

It's so EASY. But I think it's too easy that most of us take it for granted.

We get to see the photo instantly. Trash it if we don't like it. And not spend any time or money, waiting for it to develop to see if the photos we took were even any good.

Ever think that your photos could've been better? Well- Aaron Gil aka FotoNuova showed me how.

We focused on what people photograph most- people... doing portraits.

So we took turns being models and taking photos of each other.

One day, I'll figure out how to take photos without being so shaky.

And by the end of it all - I got this.

I saw lots of old faces. And some new ones.

That includes Sean Adams from AdamsMorioka.

It was fun, he's famous, and hopefully, I'll make a fortune.

Months ago, my cousin and his wife asked me to design their first born's baby shower invitations. But before the baby shower could even happen, Aadan decided to come into the world!!

Yes, my cousin is originally from Chicago and as you can figure out, loves Michael Jordan- hence the logo. And yes- Aadan Michael Jordan is his name!

I recently got to see him for the first time and drew this on a doodle pro.

Tee-Cycle!

It's summer time and I found that my closet needed a cleanin'. I purged out things that didn't fit, didn't work, and just aren't in anymore. But the bulk of it were tee-shirts.

With a stack lying in my face, I thought to myself- is there anything I can do with these creatively?

And there, my trek to finding different solutions began. That's when I stumbled upon sites like hide your arms. Here you can find things about clothing, including what you can do with them to recycle what you got!

I took some of the ideas and made...

this lap top cover! It not only holds my lap top in one pocket, but you can use the ol' head hole to hold anything else, such as the lap top charger... and sunglasses!

I also made grocery style bags!

I even made a few variations, but gave them away before taking any photos.

I made a ton of these because they're so easy to make! Try it out for yourself!

1. Take the shirt and turn it inside out

2. Sow the bottom shut

3. Now cut the arms and neck off

4. TA-DA! You've got yourself a bag!

Slap On Watch & Dunks

At the Lourve, my brother and I fell upon a glorious shop filled with amazing wonders and gadgets- things we were lookin' for the whole trip! Things we look for in general... and I ended up buying this beauty.

Slap On wristbands were things from my childhood... I remember spending Chuck E. Cheese tickets to get one! So having it combined with my love for watches couldn't have been any more perfect!

I'm also a little bit of a Shoe Head and found these puppies. Now, what are so interesting about these do you ask? Well you know that pair of sweat pants you love to wear? Well, these are made of the same thing! These aren't your regular leather, canvas uppers my friends. And that's what drew me to them.

I especially enjoy how the air holes on the toe have been painted on.

I guess it didn't help that I found these on the day I wore a pair of pants the same turquoise color.

I took my little sketchbook and tried to draw as much as I could. Being on a tour, I was constantly on the move. So you'll see that I didn't get to finish some of my drawings because I had to leave... and when I had the time, well this is what I got!

Yes, I am a Laker fan. And I missed the final games... but I drew this in celebration.

This was an apartment building across the way from our hotel in Rome.

I'm one of the few people without a smart phone and uses this archaic process to get me through the day. But since I was in Europe, on vacation, I used them to draw on.

This is from a creative photography project I did years ago. I finally decided to dig it up and show it. With the most recent decision to appeal Prop 8 on the 4th, I feel it's a great time to present this.

I've struggled with my relationship between people in my life and my sexuality. It presents the multiple sides to me that I can't always reveal to people (the ones in the black). Leaving me, with what you seen in the middle.

I might not look like this now, but it doesn't mean that this still doesn't represent how I feel. It's something I think I'll always have to deal with, but hopefully one day- no one will.

For this project, I had to come up with a word and implement its multiple meanings into the design. This is a 3D postcard for the Long Beach Aquarium.

The word I chose is wave.

for now anyways... I thought I'd update you with what's been goin' on.

First, I graduated... Cum Laude (HOLLA!) and had tons of friends and family to celebrate with. Thanks Stephanie Gonzaga for takin' this photo.

And since then, I have started my career working as a graphic designer at DAR INC. I interned for them for the Spring semester and was fortunate to have them ask me to stay!!! So right out the gates, I've been working. I'm still in this transition stage, getting use to a life without school and working all day... hence why I haven't found the time to update until now (that and they gave me the day off, hehe).

Regardless, I love it there and big props to my boss Bradley Girard for seein' somethin' in me and giving me the opportunity.

NOW I can update you on some work I've done during my last semester at CSUF.

I actually designed these San Diego Zoo shirts in 2009, but I was able to spend a little more time on them this year.

Letterpress & Packaging Workshop

So the Graphic Design Club kicked the weekend off with an agency tour to BLT. Though I couldn't kick the weekend off with them, I was able to end it with this workshop!

Alumni & old co-workers of mine, Wendy Peng & Alex Jackson, took the time to teach us a few things.

I started the morning off with portfolio packaging with Wendy.

I had the great privilege to go to the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center with my Professor Tina Schmidt. Here we talked about horses, breeds, gaits, and got to get up close.

We studied our anatomy by painting on Tina's horse Meshach. This way we were able to see how the bones work in movement. If you're interested in what we learn in Wild Life & Animal Drawing, check out this video.

As soon as we painted, I helped Tina wash him up.

Then we continued our study by checking out the horses.

Here's a few sketches.

One more lesson I learned- Wear sunblock.

And maybe a shirt that won't leave you with a farmer's tan.

So I just had to share. I treated myself out to buying this Nooka Zub Zen 20. It's not known for its practicality... but for it's design! From left to right, the first 2 columns tell the hour. The third is the minutes.

The top 2 dots refer to AM or PM. The next dot refers to the alarm. Then there's the seconds ending with the day of the week. It also includes 3 other settings for the month and date, stop watch, and alarm.

It's made of polyurethane- made to wear like a sneaker. Kinda cool but totally impossible to keep clean!! And I just had to buy it in white!

I just resigned from Graphic Services & Promotions at Cal State Fullerton after 2 years of working there. Though I love the people and the place- I had to resign for an internship. I will be forever thankful for everything I've learned there. Thank you Greg and the rest of the staff!

I had the fortunate opportunity to intern at Reviation Industries. I was given the opportunity to create vector sets for their Vector Packs.

FACES of FASA

At the show, an empty frame greeted guests as the first thing they saw. It was an invitation to guests to have themselves in their own portrait.

Here's the set up. The title was hand painted on the wall.

Here's my artist statement:

FACES is an idea of creating a set of portraits to represent a group of people. Each group will have a different meaning to me because I relate to every group in a different way. The Filipino American Seniors Association (FASA) is the first.

FASA is a group that I have grown up with and that my grandparents are a part of. My brother and I use go to their meetings at the park. This group is an inspiration to me because these are seniors that live a healthy, active lifestyle who come together and share their talents towards creative opportunities.

There are so many people that say “CAN'T” to what can be achieved of themselves. These are people that can prove that you “CAN” do anything you put your mind to. It takes hard work and sometimes it might be easier to have someone there with you. These seniors might not have known the impact that they've had on my life- so I hope that they realize it now.

These pieces were digitally painted in Corel Painter. It's a media that's very new to me, but one that I have grown to love. Portraits are something that i continue to do, and who knows, maybe you'll be in my next group.

They are 12"x 18" done in Corel Painter.

Since skateboards are banned from CSUF campus, I purchased a Razor Scooter. I came to find that many students have done the same thing; buying the same exact model and color. I took the liberty to personalize it. I don't have my own vinyl cutter machine. All I got, are my hands.

With the negative, I decided to add it to my laptop cover.

Sorry it took so long to update, but this event was a surprise. I didn't want to leak the information at any cost; and it worked. The man had no idea his birthday party was going to be on a boat with 75 of his close family and friends.

Here's the birthday cake. Unfortunately, I didn't bake it, but I made the collage.

My mother came up with the idea of giving everyone a sailor hat for the event. I decided to incorporate them as their table number assignments. There's the table number also incorporated into the center piece (which I also assisted in putting together. Thanks to Betty for her floral design).

Berkeley T-Shirts

I got contacted by my friend Vanessa Coe of Bridges at Berkeley to redesign this shirt for their senior weekend.

Here's the back. There is another version for those attending just as students. The word volunteer is removed and senior weekend is moved into its position.

For their Multicultural Transfer Day, I designed this shirt to go with their saying "Getting Connected from CC to UC."

Meat & Potatoes and Studio Number One

On Friday, CSUF's Graphic Design Club went on a field trip to LA to check out some awesome studios. Our first stop was at meat & potatoes. The place was amazing! So much was learned about production & what new things can be done with design.

After the grand tour by Todd, we decided to have lunch where meat & potatoes did the branding for - Kitchen24. That's a BLT with sweet potato fries.

Refueled, we headed to Shepard Fairey's Studio Number One. Flo & the rest of the staff did great at giving us a little insight into the world of graphic design.

House Industries Workshop

I spent Saturday at school to learn a few things from Drawing on Letters with Ken Barber. It was amazing. 10am-6:30pm wasn't exactly how long it was suppose to go, but I didn't mind at all.

Here are sketches I did which Ken and my professor liked and decided to take a few photos of. I was flattered!

Fancy Ketchup was perfect bound at 8"x10". All photos are original.

LOOK I MOVE!!

The idea of layered spreads came from the idea of a train passing by.

The Death of Board Games spread was printed on 20 year old newsprint. It really gave a nice tactile feel with the combination of the laser ink which gave it a nice sheen as well.

The article also came with original game cards that could be taken as souvenirs by the reader.

Got Card Board? was printed on cover stock that gave the sense of sturdiness that cardboard has without being too bulky for a magazine. If a reader wanted to engage in creating cardboard furniture, they would glue it to the right spread.

This book was bound by staples, due to the french folded spreads shown below.

Wedding Package

This was created for Mariel & Solavann Sim. First is the save the date postcard.

After are the save the date postcards for those invited to the bachelorette party.

Bachelorettes that attended then received goodie bags which had this 2"x 2" logo imprinted on them.

The invitation is three pieces with the first two on a light weight, cream paper. The last piece was then printed on a glittery cardstock that was also perforated so that the receiver could send the rsvp back. The second perforation was made to fold over the first page and bind the pieces together.

Along with the invitation were address stickers. The length of them (2" x 8") is due to their function of also sealing the envelopes. Envelopes opened on the side than the top.

Here is the program. Wedding party on the front and the procession of the ceremony on the back.

For the reception, guests went up to a board, looked for a 2" x 3" envelope with their name on it to find cards like below directing them to their table. Tables had 4" x 4" number cards in a similar style. For those with vegetarian meals, they received the last card in their envelope as well.

Here's some work from 2008.

Kinerase contacted me to create special offer postcards for their products that were being sold from different vendors.

Last year, my grandmother was going to celebrate her 90th birthday. She didn't know we made it a surprise party. Here is the postcard mailed to everyone. One would receive it with their name written and then return it to the sender with their rsvp. This way, all postage was taken care of by the sender. This is a photo of my grandmother that I had to photoshop and fix.

These were taken with a Canon Rebel SLR, with black and white film, as music video shots. The challenge was to capture the whole concept of the video in just 5 shots. Here is my friend Gayle Warfield, to the song "Last Request" by Paolo Nutini. I'd have to say, who knew developing film by hand could be fun!
